Monastir-Habib Bourguiba ariport receives first flight of Luxair in six years

TAP) – A charter flight 'AJ954' of 'LUXAIR' from Luxemburg, the first in six years, with 50 tourists on board landed Sunday at 10:35 AM in Monastir–Habib Bourguiba International Airport, Local Tourism Commissioner in Monastir Faouez Ben Hlima told TAP.

Ben Hlima said health protocols are fully enforced, starting from boarding until landing in Monastir-Habib Bourguiba International Airport where a group of healthcare workers transfer passengers by bus to the hotel of residence.

A first flight of 'LUXAIR' landed Friday at the Tunis-Carthage International Airport with 19 tourists on board, while the tourists who arrived Sunday at Monastir –Habib Bourguiba International Airport already booked their trips and hotels in Sousse and Mahdia for a period between one to two weeks.

The last time 'LUXAIR' landed in Tunisia was in Monastir-Habib Bourguiba International Airport in May 11, 2014.

The air company will schedule two irregular flights per week, on Thursday and Sunday, to Monastir, Djerba and Tunis, said «LUXAIR Tours» travel agency in Tunis.

It added that it would not be possible to predict the number of tourists visiting Tunisia this season as this depends on the development of the health situation across the country.
