CITET to support sustainable public procurement in construction sector

April 27, 2021

(TAP) - The Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET) has launched the project “Supporting the implementation of a model operation for sustainable public procurement in the construction sector.”

This project is part of the European-Union-funded Water and Environment Support Project (WES); it will be implemented by CITET with the support of national and international experts.

The aim is to set up a programme to provide technical support to public procurement in the construction sector and to identify sustainable procurement tools that allow for better control of consumption and production.

It also provides for integrating the foundations of sustainable development into public procurement.

A guide to sustainable public procurement and the creation of an exchange and communication network in this field will be developed for public procurers.

The integration of the foundations of sustainable development fits into the Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12), which aims to “To ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.”

CITET also seeks, through this project, to concretise the national action plan for sustainable public procurement, including the implementation of a support programme for public buyers.
