COVID-19: Over 3 million Tunisians to be vaccinated as of next April

January 21, 2021

(TAP) - '30% of the Tunisian people will be vaccinated against COVID-19 as of early next April, at a rate of 120,000 shots per day,' Health Minister Faouzi Mehdi said Wednesday.

Tunisia will receive early April over 6 million shots of COVID-19 vaccine (2 millions procured directly from international laboratories and 4 million doses ordered as part of the COVAX global initiative), he specified at a press conference on Wednesday.

The ministry had devised a national COVID-19 vaccination strategy that will mainly target health professionals, the elderly and the chronically ill, and seeks to vaccinate 50% of the population, he pointed out.

In this regard, Mehdi indicated that the ministry has mobilised 200 vaccination teams, composed of 12 health officials each.
