February 27, 2023

TAP) - A team of seven ophthalmologists provide, Saturday and tomorrow Sunday, free surgeries for the benefit of 70 patients in the governorate of Kasserine.

This social and health initiative is part of a free surgical convoy organised by the new Ophthalmology Department at Kasserine Regional Hospital in partnership with 'Nadi Al Bassar' and a Kuwaiti association, for the benefit of poor patients in the region who are unable to cover the costs of surgery.

In this regard, Regional Director of Health in Kasserine, Abdelghani Chaabani told TAP that the surgeries conducted by a medical team specialising in ophthalmology consist in removing cataracts from the eye and implanting intraocular lenses for elderly patients who benefit from free social coverage.

The ophthalmology department at the Kasserine Regional Hospital has been in operation for three months and has been reinforced with modern equipment worth about 500 thousand dinars to perform advanced surgeries such as corneal transplant, according to the same source.
