February 21, 2023

TAP) - BioTech 4.0 adoption of 4.0 technolgy in the manufacture of medicines will help bring the pharmaceutical industry in Tunisia in line with international standards, said Director-General of Sidi Thabet biotech cluster Wajdi Souilem.

Souilem told TAP BioTech 4.0, an industry 4.0 competence centre launched last October, seeks to speed up digital transition in small and medium-sized pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical enterprises in Tunisia by means of encouraging them to embrace modern technologies and providing support and technical assistance.

4.0 technolgy consists in digitising the whole process of manufacturing pharmaceuticals, he added.

BioTech 4.0 was set up as part of a national initiative set in motion by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy in 2018 with the financial support of the European Union and in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation to put Tunisia on the path of the fourth Industrial Revolution.
