Sousse sees 103% increase in tourism figures

(TAP) - The governorate of Sousse has recorded more than 103% increase in tourism figures during the period from early January to November 20, 2022, in terms of the number of visitors and overnight stays, local tourism delegate Taoufik Belgaied told TAP.

Indeed, the number of tourists who visited the Sousse-Kantaoui reached 894394 against 440145 during the same period of 2021, reported Belgaied.

Similarly, the region has seen a rise by nearly 167% in the number of overnight stays which amounted to 3 million 216 thousand nights against one million 203 thousand nights during the same period of the previous year.

In addition, the Tunisian domestic market has is now ranking first in the number of visitors to the region (427460 visitors) since the beginning of the year, with an increase of 31.4%, ahead of the Algerian market with 106097 tourists.

Visitors from traditional tourism markets are back, including the French with 51301 visitors, British 44,597 tourists and German 44,495 tourists.
