October 31, 2022

(TAP)-The 3rd edition of the International Citizen Forum on Education will be held on November 4-6 in Hammamet, with the participation of about 170 researchers from several countries, annouced Chairwoman of the Forum's steering committee Iman Jarboui.

She added at a press conference held on Saturday at the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) seat, that the forum whose theme is 'the learner at the core of the educational and university system' is organised at the initiative of the organisations 'Ma terre' and the Tunisian Forum for Education and will be attended by several participants notably from Canada, France, Congo, Argentina and Senegal, and a number of many Tunisian universities such as those of El Manar, Sousse, Monastir and Sfax.

The meeting, she underlined, will offer an opportunity to discuss the education crisis in Tunisia and to involve civil society in identifying solutions to improve the education system.

According to the organisers, the event will be an occasion for socio-economic and civil society actors to discuss teaching and learning of pupils and students as well as political and socio-economic factors that impact on the quality of the education system and on the students' success.

The forum will help 'share and compile quality information, raise awareness of socio-educational issues among participants and the general public, present field experiences and engage in a process of collective reflection on a fundamental question: which reform and which concrete educational project for Tunisia? This question arises in a context of difficulties, a health, educational and social crisis and challenges for education systems.'
