ITU Plenipotentiary Conference: Ben Neji reiterates government support for Bilel Jamoussi’s candidacy

TAP) - Minister of Communication Technologies Nizar Ben Neji reiterated, Tuesday in Bucharest (Romania), Tunisia's support to the candidacy of Dr. Bilel Jamoussi, internationally renowned specialist in standardization, to the post of Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for a 3-year term (2023-2026).

In his speech at the Plenipotentiary Conference of the ITU, held from September 26 to October 14, 2022, he also emphasised Tunisia's willingness to contribute to meeting the challenges related to the digital transformation of the global economy through its candidacy for the ITU Council (Term 2023-2026).

As such, he outlined the main directions of the National Digital Strategy, focusing primarily on the revision of legal frameworks for digitisation, improving the sector's governance, in accordance with international standards, digital inclusion, the development of digital infrastructure and national databases.

This strategy also aims to support the digital transition of the Tunisian administration, securing the national cyber space and the prevention and fight against cybercrime.

The national digital strategy also aims to establish a Big Data governance and develop artificial intelligence systems in various sectors (health, agriculture, transport ...) and financial services.

The development of skills in the digital field, the promotion of digital culture and the establishment of a business climate conducive to digital projects, are also among the objectives of this strategy.
