July 2022, 5th hottest month since 1950

(TAP)- During the month of July 2022, many regions of Tunisia witnessed a noticeable rise in temperatures and we did not record new records for maximum temperatures, while we set new records at the level of the highest minimum temperatures.

The general average of Temperature (27 main stations) reached 30.1°C and it exceeded the reference rate by a difference of +1.5 °C, which made the month of July this year classified as the fifth hottest month of July since 1950.

With regard to precipitation, all regions were affected by the decrease in the amount of rain. The rains were rare and very weak or non-existent in some areas, and the total decrease (27 main stations) reached 81%.

- Maximum temperatures

The maximum temperatures ranged from 31.4 °C in Mahdia to 41.0 °C in Tozeur and were above the reference rates in most regions. The differences ranged between +0.3°C degrees in Rermada and +2.8 in Beja and Kelibia, with the exception of El Borma, where it was slightly less than the average and the difference was -0.8 °C.

The absolute maximum temperature reached 48.2°C in Tozeur on July 01, 2022. The general average of the maximum temperature was 36.9 °C, and it exceeded the reference average (35.3 °C) by a difference of +1.6 °C.

- Minimum temperature

The minimum temperatures ranged from 19.7 °C in Siliana to 27.9 °C in Tozeur and were above the reference rates in all regions. The differences ranged between +0.1 °C in Matmata and +3.0 °C in Kef.

The absolute minimum temperature reached 12.4 °C in Siliana on July 10, 2022. The general average minimum temperature was 23.2 °C, exceeding the reference

average by a difference of +1.3 °C.
