WB to continue its support to Tunisia in subsidy reform

TAP) - Minister of Trade and Export Development Fadhila Rabhi and World Bank Group (WB) Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa Region Ferid Belhaj agreed on Wednesday in Tunis to continue coordinating the WB's support to the reform project that Tunisia intends to implement.

Belhaj expressed the Bank's readiness to provide technical support to the various reform axes in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and the WB team in Tunisia, the Ministry of Trade said in a statement issued Wednesday in Tunis.

In this regard, the minister examined the support provided by the WB to the reform of the commodity subsidy system, with regard to the impact study of its gradual implementation on the targeted sectors.

They also discussed the progress in the implementation of the platform for the registration of beneficiaries of financial transfers and the communication strategy related to the reform of the subsidy system.

Both sides also discussed ways to develop the policy against anti-competitive practices, the importance of providing all the necessary conditions to create a business climate conducive to investment and limiting the number of prior declarations for the implementation of projects, in addition to the establishment of judicial bodies responsible for settling commercial disputes.
