UTICA representatives and IMF delegation discuss economic, social and financial situation

(TAP) - Officials of the Executive Board of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), on Tuesday, met with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), currently visiting Tunisia.

The meeting addressed economic, social and financial situation of the country, as well as the necessary reforms to be taken so that the Tunisian economy resumes its growth rate, meets the demands of employment and improves public services.

The UTICA representatives exhibited the vision of the confederation and its proposals to revive the national economy and boost investment, UTICA said in a statement.

They also highlighted the important role played by the national private sector, particularly in terms of investment, exports and job creation, as well as its contribution to facing the social and financial economic difficulties.

The two sides discussed the ongoing negotiations between Tunisia and the IMF. The UTICA representatives voiced hope that these negotiations would lead to a new cooperation agreement.
