TAP) - A ceremony for signing a Tunisian-Japanese partnership agreement was held Tuesday at the headquarters of pharmaceutical laboratories 'UNIMED' in Kalaâ Kebira (Governorate of Sousse), as part of cooperation with the Japanese incubator (G CUBE).

The agreement provides for the launch, for the first time in Tunisia, of a joint project between 'UNIMED' and 'G CUBE' for the manufacture and promotion of a biological marker for rapid diagnosis of COVID-19 and another marker for rapid diagnosis of antibodies against the virus.

The partnership aims to create a competitive and sustainable industrial system in the health field, based on technology transfer and national capacity building to meet the current and future needs of the global market.

All the rapid diagnostic processes manufactured in Tunisia will be exposed during the activities of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8) in its eighth edition to be held in Tunisia on August 27 and 28, 2022.

During this ceremony, it was also announced the launch of a second partnership project between UNIMED and the Japanese incubator 'G CUBE' for the establishment of an incubator of medical research and development institutions in one of the private academic institutions of Sousse.

The signing ceremony of this agreement was marked by the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Tunisia Shinsuke Shimizu, CEO of UNIMED Ridha Charafeddine and President of the Tunisian-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hédi Ben Abbas.
