(TAP) - The pharmaceutical industry can develop further due to several factors including the availability of human skills and infrastructure necessary for research, innovation and training, in addition to the strategic positioning of the country, said Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied.

Speaking during a meeting devoted, on Tuesday, to the examination of the mechanisms for boosting investment, reforms and improvement of the business climate in the pharmaceutical industries sector, he added that the development of this sector will offer prospects in terms of partnerships in the field of research and development, said a statement of the ministry.

These partnerships should associate Tunisian companies with their European counterparts, in addition to the development of investment and access to the African market, Saied said.

Referring to the reforms undertaken by the government, he cited that of the investment system and the improvement of the business climate, in addition to the development of the legislative and legal framework to encourage investors and strengthen the competitiveness of Tunisia.

This meeting, held with the participation of representatives of the public and private sectors and experts, is part of the programme of the European Union (EU) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on investment in the Mediterranean.
