Saïed dismisses CEO of SNCFT

(TAP) - President Kaïs Saïed has decided to dismiss CEO of the National Company of Tunisian Railways (SNCFT), Belgacem Tayaa, said the Presidency of the Republic.

This decision comes a day after the accident that occurred Thursday, October 7, after the collision between two passenger trains, at the station 'Megrine Riadh', which resulted in at least 33 injuries.

This decision comes in parallel with the visit made Friday by the Head of State to some injured in this accident hospitalised at the Centre of Traumatology and Burns Ben Arous, and Charles-Nicolle Hospital, to check on their health, and the conditions of their care and inquire about the circumstances of the accident.

The appointment of a new CEO of SNCFT will be announced after the formation of the government.

In addition, two individuals among those injured in the accident are still in hospital, said Friday, the National Company of Tunisian Railways (SNCFT), in a statement, without giving further details on their current health condition.

A preliminary report determining the causes of the collision has been transmitted to the Bureau of Investigation and Accidents, under the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, added the company noting that legal and administrative measures have been taken in this context.

The collision occurred Thursday, October 7 at about 7:20 pm between the train from the southern suburbs of the capital and that of Gabes.
