Banknotes and coins in circulation up by 16.6% (BCT)

TAP)-The banknotes and coins in circulation reached 15749.4 million dinars (MD) at the end of 2020, up 16.6% compared to 2019, with a preponderant share of banknotes (97.4%), according to the Financial Statements of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) for 2020.

It should be noted that the growth rate of cash in circulation increased, since it had only risen by 8.5% between 2018 and 2019.

The 20 dinar notes in circulation are in the lead with more than 9 410 MD, followed by the 10 dinar notes (3 825 MD), the 50 dinar notes (2 059 MD) and the 5 dinar notes (45 MD).

As for coins, 1000 millimes coins in circulation are estimated at more than 143 MD, followed by 5 dinars coins (over 100 MD), 500 millimes coins (over 56 MD) and 2 dinars coins (over 45 MD).
