Tunisair: financial statements of 2018 and 2019 to be approved in September (minister)

March 9, 2021

(TAP)- The financial statements of Tunisair for 2018/19 will be approved early September, while that of 2020 will be ready for approval, said Minister of Transport and Logistics Moez Chakchouk.

This will help develop a clear vision for the national carrier's reform, the minister further told a meeting held Monday by the House of People's Representatives (HPR) Committee on Administrative Reform, Good Governance and Fight against Corruption.

The balance sheet of 2018 will be submitted in March to the board of directors. The financial report of 2019 is being drawn up.

Financial data that will be revealed by financial statements, once appproved, will not be different from forrcasts.

The revamp of the airline's information system is behind the delay seen in releasing financial reports, Chakchouk said. Difficulties were observed in transitioning to the new system as a result of the significant activity in 2019. It is unthinkable, Chakchouk highlighted, to speak about a salvage scheme and strategic programmes in the absence of financial statements.

The Financial Market Council bureau filed a request to the President of the Tunis first instance court to compel compliance by Tunisiair with the law in force and release financial reports for 2018 and 2019.
