Government decree on national agency for development, social integration ready

February 10, 2021

(TAP) - Government decree on the creation of the national agency for development and social integration was drafted, said Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Trabelsi. It is awaiting the approval of social partners and the National Council of Social Dialogue.

Trabelsi told TAP Tuesday on the fringes of a press briefing the law stipulates that social partners and the National Council of Social Dialogue express their opinion.

The National Council of Social Dialogue will resume its activities on Friday after a number of challenges were addressed, mainly in relation to headquarters, the minister added.

The piece of legislation on social security approved in 2019 provides for the establishment of this agency which, Trabelsi said, is a horizontal body that brings together the State's social intervention and fight against poverty programmes.

Great strides were made to activate the process of the agency's creation after an interruption of eight months amid the coronavirus outbreak.

This agency is of interest to all social advancement actors as combating poverty is the ultimate goal, the minister said.

The government decree organising the Higher Development Council chaired by the prime minister is also ready, Trabelsi said. All State structures will be involved in the new approach to combat multidimensional poverty.
