Tourism receipts down by 60.7%, to 1647 MD, as of September 20, 2020 (BCT)

TAP) - Cumulative tourism receipts have fallen by 60.7% to 1647 million dinars (MD) as of September 20, 2020, compared to the same period last year, according to daily monetary and financial indicators published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

Minister of Tourism Habib Ammar indicated on Saturday that during the first nine months of 2020, tourism receipts have fallen by 60% and that this decline may reach 70% by the end of the year 2020.

The number of overnight stays did not exceed, from January 1 to September 20, 4.62 million, a drop of 79.5%.

Still according to BCT statistics, cumulative labour income on the same date stood at 40.2 billion dinars, a slight increase of 8.7% compared to the previous year.

Cumulative foreign debt service fell by 17% to 6.2 billion dinars.

As for net foreign currency assets, they amounted to 21.2 billion dinars as of September 29, 2020, which corresponds to 141 days of imports. On the same date in 2019, assets did not exceed 18 billion dinars (102 days of imports).
