December 1, 2022

TAP) - The total production of electricity slightly fell by 1% at the end of September 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, standing at 15,433 GWh (excluding consumed auto production), according to the monthly report on the energy situation at the end of September 2022, published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines.

The peak capacity evolved by 5% to reach 4677 MW at the end of September 2022. A new national record was recorded on September 8, 2022 (4677 MW), thus exceeding that of August 2022 (4657 MW), the first time that an annual peak has been recorded in September.

The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) still retains the lion's share of electricity production with 95% of national production at the end of September 2022. Electricity produced from natural gas (STEG + IPP) decreased by 1%. The production of electricity from renewable energy sources stood at 1.8% (taking into account the production of power stations only).
