(TAP) – Prime Minister Najla Bouden and Minister of Tourism Mohamed Moez Belhassine, on Tuesday, discussed the axes of the national strategic vision of Tunisian tourism by 2035, on the celebration of the World Tourism Day themed «Rethinking Tourism.»

This vision seeks to make tourism an important engine of economic, social and environmental development across the Tunisian territory by 2035, the Minister said.

The aim is to make Tunisia one of the most competitive and sustainable destinations in the world, through diversifying tourist products and attracting new markets, said a Prime Ministry statement.

Belhassine also highlighted the need to «make Tunisia a clean tourist destination, which preserves the cultural and natural heritage for the present and future generations.» He said this strategy is a common vision between the various tourism players.

For her part, the PM noted that the sector must create wealth, contribute to promoting economy and create more jobs. She recalled the government's support to this sector, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Tourism Strategy 2035 is based on four strategic objectives, namely: competitiveness, diversification, investment and marketing.

The implementation of the strategy aims at promoting a sustainable recovery of the sector, especially after the losses caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
