Towards launching air bridge between Tozeur and Paris

September 22, 2022

TAP)- The launch shortly of an air bridge between Tozeur and Paris was at centre stage of a meeting between Tourism Minister Mohamed Moez Belhasssine, President of the SETO tour-operating companies union René-Marc Chikli and President of the Travel Companies (EDV) Jean-Pierre Mas as well as representatives of the Tunisian tourism sector professionals.

During this meeting held on Tuesday afternoon, on the fringes of the 44th edition of the IFTM Top Resa trade show for tourism professionals currently underway in Paris, the participants considered that the launch of this air bridge will help promote the southern region as a winter destination.

This Tunisian region is little known by the representatives of travel agencies in France, René-Marc Chikli said.

President of the Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FTAV) Ahmed Bettaieb indicated for his part, that the French carrier Transavia is willing to open this air bridge, adding that this will help further develop the French market, notably during the winter tourist season.

Tunisia hosted nearly 604 thousand French tourists until September 10, i.e. up by 235% compared to the same period in 2021 and down by 9.1% compared to 2019, Mohamed Moez Belhasssine pointed out on Tuesday. The set goal of achieving 50 to 60% of the level of activity in 2019 has been far exceeded, he considered.

According to the Orchestra barometer conducted by the French specialised magazine Echo touristique last May, Tunisia is indeed the 4th favourite tourist destination of the French.
