(TAP) - The World Bank (WB) is ready to accompany Tunisia in the execution of its reform programme and to continue the implementation of ongoing cooperation projects, said vice-president of the WB for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region Ferid Belhaj.

He was speaking during a meeting, on Friday, with Finance Minister Sihem Boughdiri Nemessia.

These ongoing projects include the social protection programme and the support programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to the Finance Ministry.

The Minister shed light on the agreement concluded between the Tunisian government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), noting that an IMF working team is currently holding talks with Tunisia from February 14 to 22 on the reform programme.

«The Tunisian state respects, despite the difficulties, its commitments with international donors, and fulfils its social and economic role at the domestic level,» the Minister added.

She also welcomed the efforts made by the WB to support economic and social development, saying Tunisia is counting on the support of its economic partners during this difficult period.
