Health Minister takes part in AU virtual joint regional meeting on ''Investing in Health'' Initiative

(TAP)- Minister of Health Faouzi Mehdi took part, on Monday afternoon, the virtual joint regional meeting of the African Union (AU) that brought together ministers of finance and investment support of AU member states and their representatives, said a statement from the department.

Participants discussed ways to implement the initiative to increase investment in health, according to which the AU will provide support to member states in the region to advance policy reforms related to health financing and to reform and promote the health sector, including financing strategies.

Faouzi Mehdi affirmed Tunisia's commitment to work for the establishment of an effective partnership in the various fields of health, with the aim of serving the interests of African peoples and guaranteeing their right to safe and quality health services.

The meeting also focused on strategies and financing systems in AU member countries, solutions capable of ensuring the promotion of the health sector in the region, amid the health crisis related to the COVID-19.

It also reviewed practical solutions likely to reform this vital sector, through the appropriate choice of financing partnerships, the same source added.
